Well, some call me the 'whale wizard.' I am not a researcher nor a scientist. I am a passionate observer of the whales of the Southern Resident Community and any other whales who may appear in these waters.
Whales 24/7 - if I'm not out on the rocks watching them or in a boat going to find them, then I'm on my computer going through the hundreds of photos I took that day or last week or whenever (seems I'm never caught up). Other times I am editing my video clips to put together my next video of the whales, or who knows what else.
20 years ago if you asked me what I would be doing in 20 years - this wasn't even on my 'radar screen.'
10 years ago or even 6 years ago I would have said the same.
Life happens while you are wandering through it!
Many youngsters want to become whale trainers when they grow up. I encourage them to follow their love of the whales and allow their gifts to shine through too. An artist? A painter? A story teller? Who knows....only you, when you get there.
